To coincide with the 'Poiret: King of Fashion' exhibition at the MET this summer, the Courtauld is pleased to present highlights from the Stella Mary Newton Collection. This is a selection of photographs taken by the travel writer Robert Byron on the journey about which he wrote his most famous book, 'The Road to Oxiana'. First published in 1937, it is due to be reissued by Penguin Classics this July. These beautiful photographs document his travels through Iran, Afghanistan and Syria.
